Summer is the best season for hair experiments. Surviving sweltering weather & heat waves, you’ll want a hairstyle that is decidedly low-maintenance and yet ‘beachy’ enough for all the instagram posts. To give you an idea of which hairstyle work best for the hottest season, we asked our hair experts for their summer favorites.
The Modern Bob
Sometimes hair around your neck and shoulders feels like you’re wearing a hair scarf, which is why the Bob is the one of the season’s popular hairstyles. Whether in a classic bob or a more mussed-up lob (read: long bob)—is decidedly timeless. From Mindy Kaling to Katie Holmes to Rachel McAdams, various celebrities have been trendspotted sporting this chic hairstyle.

Timeless & classic. This young Julie Christie or Charlotte Rampling hairstyle frames the face in a lovely way that draws attention to the mouth.Keep this look modern by going for less structured waves. This is a terrific look if you’re in your early 20s and wear minimal makeup. What makes it different from the Modern Bob is the side part which is more extreme in order to create the lovely side-swept bangs.
Super Short Bangs
These looked super adorable on Audrey Tautou in “Amelie” and Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday,” and these cropped bangs came back into style in 2012 with celebrities like Michelle Williams, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Penelope Cruz wearing them so well. This is a wonderful cut for playing up a swanlike neck. You can even sweep your bangs to one side, or even secure them with a pretty little clip or bobby pin. A slim headband can look really flattering and chic, too, like Michelle Williams did at the 2012 Golden Globes.
Gamine and gorgeous, yet classic — the short pixie hairstyle takes guts. Best bit, it’s universally flattering. Pixie works for any hair type – straight or curly, thin or thick. From classic icons to modern muses, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus & Anne Hathaway have proved the versatility and cool style of the short cut.
Ranging from messy to sleek and chic, there are two hairstyles that are popular summer favorites: braids and buns. Whether it’s a day at the beach or a family brunch, this Insta-worthy hairdo lets you throw your hair into a stylish updo to look super cute while still beating the heat.

The pun made its entrance this year at Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The pun is a millennial version of the traditional bun and the traditional ponytail. The casual knot gives this style an air of understated nonchalance. This ponytail/bun hybrid appeared at various shows such as Bottega Veneta, with celebrities like Daisy Ridley and Rooney Mara rocking the trend off the catwalk, too.
Plaits look especially gorgeous and chic in the summer months. Ultra pretty, versatile & convinient, there’s a braid for almost everyone. SS16 saw a variety of cool styles, from gorgeous french braids to super skinny plaits. Shows like Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Rochas all experimented with them to our delight, and provided the ultimate spring/summer inspiration for 2016.
